1973 Schwinn "Sports Tourer" 10 speed road bike. Just refurbished, tuned up and ready to ride. This classic was manufactured at Schwinn's famous Chicago, IL. (USA) plant in February 1973—serial number, BJ-++++++. The "kool yellow" colored frame is a hand fillet-brazed, 4130 chrome-molly, and therefore considered very light weight for its day. Frame size is 24 inches, measured from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube. The 27 inch chrome wheels are mounted with new black-wall tires. Chrome front tubular fork and a factory chrome weld-on kickstand. Shift through the 10 speed gears via the twin, stem-mounted chrome shifters. Alloy 3 piece cotter-less Nervar crank (made in France). Derailleur's are top quality "Schwinn Approved." Front and rear operated center-pull hand brakes with Schwinn Approved safety levers. The alloy handlebar and stem are factory Schwinn Approved. The yellow handlebar tape is new and recently applied. Black seat is an original Schwinn Approved. At the time of its 1973 production, this was considered one of the best American made 10 speed bicycles Schwinn built. Schwinn eventually discontinued the "Sports Tourer" at the end of 1975. Schwinn's of today are manufactured in China. Sorry no shipping, local pick up and purchase only.
